Award-Winning Tracey Erin Smith stars in:

The Burning Bush!

Saving souls… one lap dance at a time.

Burning Bush Productions presents the award-winning theatre artist Tracey Erin Smith in The Burning Bush!, an hilarious and heart-warming theatrical extravaganza that combines her two irreverent hit solo shows The Burning Bush! and Two in the Bush! This audacious comedy – about a ‘stripping rabbi’ saving souls one lap dance at a time – NOVEMBER 16th - ONE-NIGHT ONLY - at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

Tracey Erin Smith in The Burning BushIt’s Yentl meets Showgirls in this one-woman road show about a female Rabbinical student who stumbles into a strip club and discovers her true calling: spreading Jewish wisdom with her posse of exotic-dancing back-up preachers! All goes smoothly until they take their ‘stripping-Rabbi’ show on the road to senior’s homes and are forced to run for it in their RV they call the Bush Mobile. This audacious heartfelt comedy has a genuine message of love and hope, served up with a generous dose of reverent irreverence.

Winner of the 2006 Best of the Toronto Fringe for the original one-act The Burning Bush! and 2007 Best of the Toronto Fringe for Two in the Bush!, Toronto native Tracey Erin Smith takes The Burning Bush! to Off-Broadway in the spring of 2010. When last performing in NYC at the Frigid Festival with the original one-act versions in 2007 and 2008, she won the Audience Choice Award for each play respectively.

As a young girl, Tracey Erin Smith dreamt of two things; being a performer and becoming a Rabbi. She fulfilled one dream by graduating from Vancouver’s prestigious Studio 58 Theatre School and by being nominated for a Jessie Richardson Award for The One that Got Away. She was about to apply to rabbinical school when she met her idol, the legendary comedian Jackie Mason, a former Rabbi himself. He advised her to do her show; she did and, as they say, the rest is history. Smith is now on her way to fulfill her second dream: as of September 2008, she is a rabbinical student in the Rabbinical Seminary International in New York (and following in Mr. Mason’s footsteps towards becoming a Rabbi with a hit solo show on Broadway!).
