In her interview, Anita La Salva, director of The Burning Bush, said "you had me at "Stripping Rabbi". A veteran of stage and screen, Anita loves pushing boundaries.

What drew you to this project?
I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of spirituality and entertainmnet and how the two are able to coexist on stage in this project. Actually, you had me at "Stripping Rabbi"!

What are some unique aspects about working on this show?
Creating an atmosphere of a travelling spiritual road show in all it's grandeur with only one person and two musicians! I love the idea of the solo performer as being everyone and everywhere.

What excites you about this show?
I am drawn to artists who test boundaries and allow themselves to be vehicles for questioning our actions and motivations in life - why are we here what is our true purpose on this planet? Smith is one of those performers and this is really exciting for me as a director.

What is the most important thing when directing a new theatrical production?
As a director it is most important for me to stay out of the way and allow the piece to develop while still maintaining a sharp eye looking for opportunities as to how I can enhance and support the material. It is key that the first time a new show is produced to really allow its' essence and truth to speak rather than putting a spin or overlaying a concept onto what is at its core.
